International Pride Orchestra

Founded in 2022, the International Pride Orchestra is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that brings together LGBTQIA+ musicians and allies from around the world to present concerts, celebrate community, and advocate for LGBTQIA+ visibility and belonging through music.

Since its founding, IPO has grown into an international artistic and advocacy initiative, uniting musicians across borders to create performances that are both artistically ambitious and socially meaningful. Through annual Pride Celebration Concerts, educational initiatives, and community partnerships, IPO uses the concert stage as a platform for connection, storytelling, and solidarity. Each year, a different host city becomes home to the orchestra, with every performance partnering with local LGBTQIA+ organizations to raise awareness, foster visibility, and generate direct financial support for their work.

The International Pride Orchestra made its debut on June 22, 2023, in San Francisco, the historic heart of the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement. IPO partnered with Peaches Christ and the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence to raise funds for LYRIC, one of the nation’s first and largest LGBTQQ+ youth centers. In 2024, IPO traveled to New York City, where musicians from around the globe came together alongside Peaches Christ and Thorgy Thor to support SAGE, the country’s leading organization dedicated to improving the lives of LGBTQIA+ elders. In 2025, IPO presented its largest and most ambitious program to date in the Washington, D.C. area as part of WorldPride celebrations. The orchestra partnered with the Gay Men's Chorus of Washington, DC and Whitman-Walker for a landmark performance at the Music Center at Strathmore. The nearly sold-out concert brought together more than 1,300 audience members and raised over $50,000 in support of Whitman-Walker’s work serving the LGBTQIA+ community.

In 2026, IPO continues its mission in Houston, bringing its Pride Celebration Concert to Texas for the first time. Partnering with the Montrose Center, IPO seeks to create visibility, solidarity, and celebration in a region where LGBTQIA+ communities continue to face mounting political and social challenges.
